What are they?

Proteins are essential macronutrients that perform important functions for the proper functioning of our organism. Proteins are essential in our diet and it cannot be produced by our organism by itself, so they must be acquired through food.

What are the proteins made of?

Proteins are molecules made up of amino acids. They contain carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. But they also contain nitrogen. Proteins represent about half of the weight of our body’s tissues and are present in all the cells of our organism.

What do proteins serve for?

Proteins play a fundamental role in our organism. They are necessary for the formation and repair of muscles, bones or other tissues. They also transport nutrients such as lipids (lipoproteins), vitamins or minerals. In addition, proteins protect our body by forming antibodies to prevent diseases. They are the engine that helps our body to be in motion, but they are not the “fuel” (carbohydrates do play this role).

Where can we find them?

We could find proteins especially in animal nutrients such as meat, fish, eggs and milk. But we can also find them in certain vegetables, such as soybeans, legumes and cereals. Therefore, there are two types of proteins: of animal origin and of plant origin.

The amount of protein that we ingest will vary depending on the physical effort we accomplish. Nevertheless, the DRI (Dietary Reference Intake) is 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight or 0.36 grams per pound.

Protein in sports

Proteins in sports are very important because our body increases the amount of proteins contributions since it needs a greater number of amino acids to generate energy. As well, as protein is essential for maintaining and building muscle. It is very important to consume proteins after exercise for muscles to properly recover and eventually grow. As a matter of fact, workouts create microscopic damages within the worked muscles’ cells, which are composed of proteins. Supplying proteins to your body help to repair the muscle damages.

For sports lovers, Pulsaar has created two types of proteins:

BIOACTIVE POWDER – Protein from plants: The Pulsaar Bioactive Powder is real vegan power. (Quinoa, Pea, Soy protein). This protein will help you to strengthen and protect your muscle mass, replenish and recovery in a natural way. The plant-based protein powder is formulated for easy digestion and assimilation. Moreover, we also added a blend of vegan anti-oxidants that would help to preserve cells from ageing

Strength and Recovery Powder – Whey Protein: Is a protein that is compounded by 3 types of protein: Whey protein Isolate, Micellar Casein and Calcium Caseinate. The Pulsaar Whey protein has a unique formulation that provides a sustained protein level that lasts for 8 hours. Containing three types of protein to stimulates short-term AND long term muscle protein synthesis- maximizing the retention of lean body mass in resistance-training. Also, it takes care of bone health. It reduces muscle breakdown thanks to its slowly digested protein that increases the overnight muscle protein synthesis (MPS) and metabolic rate without influencing lipolysis.
